OMP’s World Meeting Event
Over 50 dealers arrived from the four corners of the world and gathered at OMP Racing headquarters in Ronco Scrivia (Genoa), Italy on September 11th and 12th. The special occasion was OMP’s 35th birthday, the formal introduction of OMP’s new Owners and the launch of the new product lines. President Alberto Delprato, Vice Presidents Paolo Delprato and Federico Minoli hosted with CEO Roberto Percivale a welcome dinner at Villa Pomela, a spectacular mansion from 1695. During dinner the Percivale brothers awarded prizes and the US contingent won two: CDOC as one of the top performing dealers and OMP America for the best custom suit of the year (Marco Andretti’s Indiana Jones®). The following morning all guests met at the Factory for a brief but noteworthy presentation by Federico Minoli (former CEO of Ducati) on OMP’s values and objectives. While some dealers participated in the karting qualifying rounds in the new state of the art karting facility, others previewed the new product lines. Lunch was served in a 3,000sf tent just in front of the new showroom area. Before returning home the US contingent stopped in Monza witnessing the win of Sebastian Vettel, the youngest F1 winner.
OMP’s New Showroom and Karting Facility
The unexpected death of Piergiorgio Percivale a few years ago left the Percivale brothers and the entire company with the mission to expand the showroom and build a karting facility in the factory backyard. Roberto, Claudio, Laura and the new owners wanted to fulfill Piergiorgio’s dream and now OMP is proud to showcase a state of the art karting facility and a brand new 6,000sf showroom. Both were inaugurated during the World Meeting with the first go-kart race (won by the Russian importer, but the US was well represented in the final by John Ruther – Northstar Motorsports) and with an open house party for family and friends of OMP and to the citizens of Ronco Scrivia.
OMP ONE Collection
The new OMP ONE line is a collection that is geared towards the sophisticated, younger but hard core consumer, which places equal emphasis on quality, safety and design; a consumer who equally values technology and style. The OMP ONE line will feature improved racing and safety products manufactured using breakthrough innovations in product lightness with new materials for fire suits and underwear, as well as the historic OMP logo from the early days. The collection will include new suits, boots, gloves and underwear.
Racing Results
Before we move on to 2009 we’d like to archive 2008 with a recap of our driver efforts. In IndyCar, Vitor Meira and Marco Andretti finished second and third respectively in the Indy 500 collecting other wins and podium finishes along with Hideki Mutoh and Will Power. In Indy Lights Ana Beatriz was the first women to win a race and fought for the championship till the last race. There were also excellent results also from Dillan Battistini, the Panther Racing entry. In Grand-Am we collected race wins and podium finishes with Wayne Taylor Racing, Penske-Taylor, AIM Autosport, TRG and Rum Bum Racing. In the ALMS Series podium finishes for de Ferran Motorsports in their impressive first season. But this is just the top of the iceberg because OMP’s drivers win week in and week out at every level of racing both in the US and worldwide.

Curiosity of the Month:
Following 15 months of hard work, OMP is proud to introduce a new generation of
harnesses that undoubtedly are the most innovative belts on the market. The 4 and 6-point harnesses passed the rigorous FIA homologation tests including the one for direct attachment to the roll bar. The new buckle, which weighs just 140 grams, is the smallest and lightest available thanks to the use of magnesium and anodized ergal. Our development center also developed a very light abrasion-resistant strap that on average weighs 80 grams. The ergonomic quick release adjustment device is made of steel and aluminum for both comfort and practicality while the new spring catch attachment to the tub improves the overall safety. All harnesses are Hans® friendly, and some models, for both touring and formula cars, feature a 2” upper strap.
